Join us as we commemorate 20 years of advancing wind energy research and collaboration.
Since its establishment in 2003, EAWE has played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of wind energy research and education. This overview celebrates our journey of relentless pursuit of knowledge and collaborative innovation in wind energy.
In 2003 the Wind Academy's declaration has been signed by the founding members Gijs van Kuik (TU Delft), Gerard van Bussel (TU Delft), Jens Nørkær Sørensen (DTU), Jürgen Schmid (University of Kassel, DEWI), Spyros Voutsinas (NTNUA), John Dalsgaard Sørensen (Aalborg University), Takis Chaviaropoulos (CRES), Jos Beurskens (ECN), Erik Lundtang Petersen (Risø). Prof. Dr. Jürgen Schmid (back then ISET) was elected as first president.

The biennial scientific conference "The Science of Making Torque from Wind" was successfully establised in 2004 as Europe‘s leading scientific wind energy conference. It took place in Delft for the first time and is from now on happeining every even year. Experts from academia and industry are discussing latest results and developments in fundamental and applied wind energy research. In the same year the first PhD Seminar was established. Since then it happens every year in fall. In the anniversary year the 19th PhD Seminar will take place in Hannover.
